Hi
My poor old mare, Ruby, has come in lame tonight. She almost completely off
her offside hind. I've had a good feel for heat and a poke around for pain
but can't find anything. I'm wondering if it's the start of laminitis.
What are the 'typical' signs of this? As she's getting on a bit, she's 23,
I'm going to leave her for tomorrow and see how she goes but if she doesn't
get any better I'll call the vet on Thursday. It's possible she's slipped
in the mud and pulled something, we've had awful weather here, so much so
that I've now got very nice duck ponds in 2 of my fields !!! Also, with the
weather being cold, it might have affected her joints a little although
she's still in at night and rugged up in the day. I'll keep you posted.
