On Saturday Cherry did a BD dressage competition at Bluegate Hall, in Essex.
It was our first outing since September 06, due to her sarcoid & its
treatment. We did 2 elementary tests, and they didn't seem to go too badly.
In the first class we were 2nd out of 3 in the open and 3rd out of 6
overall; in the second class we were 2nd out of 4 in the open and 2nd out of
8 overall. But the best bit was that the second class was won by a 14 hh
Welsh Cob, so 1st and 2nd places were ponies - the rest being big (and quite
impressive in some instances) horses! Pony power rules!! <gr>
Seriously it just goes to show that you don't need a 17 hh Warmblood to do
dressage.
A photographer was there, so there are photos at

Look in the galleries, 2007 events, then it's Bluegate Hall 3 Nov 07.
Cherry is number 36 ('Melody's Sweet Charity'). I'm still trying to work
out why she looks quite so 'tucked up' when trotting, whether it's tension
or just being built deep in front and low. Oh and please excuse my riding!!
Photo 5887 (13) shows that she is BEGINNING to show something in her medium
trot (we got a 6 for that one and a 7 for the one up the centre line at the
end - the last photo - ignore my head position please!!).
In 5891 (17) we're not on the wrong lead, we've just done a 10m 1/2 circle
and are returning to the track to do counter-canter (in case you wondered).
The pony that won the class was number 31, if you are interested - he looks
to be really working well through his back, something Cherry could do if she
didn't tense up during the tests! The higher number horses in the list were
probably the other ones doing Elementary, as these were the last 2 classes.
Some nice horses in there...
Anyway she got quite good marks both tests - over 66% in the first one and
over 68.5% in the second one, her highest percentage ever in Affiliated! -
so I was very pleased, and we got prize money in the second test as well!
Next outing will be 2 Medium tests in a very spooky arena at Wix, so don't
hold your breath for that one!!
Cheers
Alison.
