Has anybody got the Ifor Williams Tack Pack?
(too old to reply)

i.e The tack storage locker thingy that goes in a trailer?
Or have you seen/used one? What are they like as regards weight,
handleability etc?

I haven't seen the Ifor Williams locker, but all the trailers over here have
tack storage as standard (instead of having front opening trailers), and its
very nice and handy. Saves you having to put your tack etc., in the car.
I'd have one if it wasn't at the expense of a front ramp.

The IW one is a locker on wheels so you can move it in and out as required.
It seems a good idea as you can load it in the tack room then wheel it out
into the trailer.

Our trailer (equitrek) also is fitted with lockers at the rear which are
accessible from the outside but not the inside(bit of a pain carrying tack
around but can't complain)

A friend has an IW locker which she uses with her IW trailer and is very
pleased with it indeed. Not sure how heavy they are to move about, but she
manages well enough. Seems to carry a lot of kit. I like the idea of
loading in the tackroom too, makes a lot of sense! Especially when it is
piddling down!

Thanks Jo, sounds good. I might just take the plunge and get one. They are a
bit pricey though at £180 plus VAT :-(

I found it a total pain in the bum, and gave up on it. It had to be secured
with Bungees, (the design may have changed in the last 3 years, I hope it
has), you couldn't unload out of the front without getting it out first, and
it was very heavy and not easily movable. Thumbs down from my and the rest
of my cronies.

This is what finally put me off. They are heavy once they've got a
saddle, bridle and severla other bits and bobs squashed in. I've never
had one in my trailer or tried to unload past one but I must admit, it
does look like you'd have to take the pack out to get the horse out. I
saw a trailer recently which had a big tack locker at the front
(accessible from outside) and at the expense of the front ramp.

I bought a saddle rack thing and some bridle hooks on hooks which I got
put into my trailer. They are removable should I want to carry two
horses and fixable when I want them in (so they don't get knocked off,
or whatever). I then carry my tack in the trailer, on the left hand
side, horse in the right hand side. It works a treat and there's still
room for me to squeeze down the side. I also have a big tack box thing
which I bungee onto the big pole in the middle of the partition and it
all works rather well. Not as 'together' as a tack pack, and obviously
no security at all so may not be suitable for everyone.

Years ago someone made a tack box thingy as a gift. It was wooden and had
a lower large deep box which I could put grooming stuff and boots etc and
the top was a saddle horse. The two detached which made it easy to move
about and access. You could easily carry it by the saddle horse bit and
then just put your saddle on to travel or store. It was very sturdy and an
excellent design. Not seen anything like it since.
As I said, my friend found the Ivor Wms doo daa brilliant, but note your
points and thinking about it she only travelled the one large boy or a
driving shetland, so probably put it the otherside of the partition (?)

The bateson trailer that I sometimes use has a built in tack rack in the
front!
